Paper Topic:

In your paper, you are to describe a specific situation or issue that raises important questions about professional ethics. I recommend that you choose a situation or issue from the profession that you are planning to enter (or one you are thinking about entering). However, if you feel strongly about writing about a different situation or issue, you are welcome to do so. Then, you are to argue for what you think is the ethical position to take regarding your chosen situation or issue.

More specifically, here are the tasks you need to accomplish in your paper:

1. Describe a specific situation or issue that raises important questions about professional ethics. (no more than one page)

2. Use at least two of the assigned readings from the course to analyze the ethical issues involved in the situation or issue. You need to make substantial use of the two readings—one citation in one sentence is not sufficient. (one to two pages)

3. Provide your own argument about what the ethical thing to do would be in this kind of situation or what the ethical position to take is for your issue. Consider at least one objection to your argument (and provide a reply). (around three pages)

*Note: You do not necessarily need to do tasks 2 and 3 separately. You may choose to utilize the readings from class in the course of making your own argument.
