Terrorism preparedness and response (and attempts to prevent terrorism altogethe

Terrorism preparedness and response (and attempts to prevent terrorism altogether) have added significant strain to already stretched state and local budgets. If local governments determine their own level of risk/vulnerability and act accordingly, other programs will suffer as a result of budget reallocations. Should local governments establish minimum standards and levels of preparedness, regardless of the impact on other programs? Consider and discuss the following:
1. What duty is owed by a local government for the protection/safety of its citizens?
2. If there is a duty to protect, how should that duty be balanced against other duties of government?
3. What options are available to meet the requirements of public safety, given the increased demands on scarce resources? (Be creative, think “outside the box.”)
Be sure to link back to one or more of the American Founding Principles (https://nccs.net/blogs/articles/the-founders-unchanging-principles-of-liberty-1).
This range is a minimum requirement, and NOT a maximum limit.
You may write as much as you need to make your strongest arguments. Although more is not necessarily “better,” it is reasonable that the best discussions are the ones that show the best evidence in support of the assertions.
Scripture/biblical/foundation principles Should be included and supportive of narrative.

You have written my past few assignments, thank you again! attached is last weeks assignment for reference.
Develop an understanding of the internet and it’s relation to our Nation’s critical infrastructure.
The Internet is “a network that links computer networks all over the world by satellite and telephone, connecting users with service networks such as e-mail and World Wide Web.” (Lewis, 2006, p. 363) It is hard to believe that the Internet has technically been around for 40 years because it was only commercialized in the past 20 years. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is what the Internet uses for global networking, and only after this was created did the Internet began to really spread. One interesting thing to note is that TCP/IP was never designed to be secure, but now it is so important to ensure that it is in fact secure. The Internet is such a major part of our daily lives that it is no wonder that it is such a major part of each of our critical infrastructure sectors.
The Internet is widely viewed as both a critical infrastructure and a key enabler of other critical infrastructures. The monitoring and control of power grids and water plants, for example, often depend on the functioning of underlying IP-based networks. In addition, most industrial control systems that monitor and control critical processes, as we discussed last week with SCADA, are increasingly connected, directly or indirectly, to the Internet and therefore face new threats. Protecting the Internet must be a top priority.
What role does the Internet play in your sector ?
How will you prevent and protect against these threats?

The first of this week’s reading assignment is Disconnect: The company you think

The first of this week’s reading assignment is Disconnect: The company you think you’re running is not the company for which your people work by James Krohe Jr. It is posted under the Reading tab. The author writes about the stark difference between how executives and lower level employees view their employment. After reading the article, please answer the following questions:
1) It is argued that some CEOs are disconnected from their organizations and thus do not have an accurate assessment of what is going on in the organizations they lead. How does this happen?
2) What can CEOs do to stay connected or reconnect to their organizations?
3) What are two things you learned from reading this article?
The second article, also posted under the Reading tab, entitled Knowledge worker control: Understanding via principal agency theory by Rebecca Mitchell and David Meacheam examines the relationship between knowledge workers and management. The authors discuss the limitations of traditional managerial control methods to manage knowledge workers and specifically caution against the use of scientific management principles. This articles addresses a question from a Discussion exercise two weeks ago. After reading the article, please answer the following questions:
4) We previously discussed asymmetrical relationships in the context of superordinate-subordinate and authority-subject relationships (Sykes & Clark, 1975). How do the authors describe the knowledge asymmetries between the worker and manager?
5) What is meant by the quote below contained on page 153?
“When those in authority no longer comprehend the work of their subordinates, hierarchical position alone is insufficient justification for authority, especially in technical matters”
6) Please apply one of the five propositions listed on pages 155 – 156 to knowledge workers included in your strategy. How can you use this proposition to effectively manage those workers?

One of the newest trends in law-enforcement is the use of body cameras for patro

One of the newest trends in law-enforcement is the use of body cameras for patrol officers. This trend has been catching on for the past couple of years, but events in Ferguson, MO have brought many agencies considering purchasing the equipment.
The department you are working for wants to purchase this technology. However, funds are severely limited, and your department cannot afford them. The department administration knows you are taking college courses and becoming highly educated. Therefore, the administration solicits you to explore alternative sources of funding.
You work for a department with 15 officers, but 10 of those officers work patrol duties. The other five officers are upper administration or investigators. Therefore, you will be asking for body cameras for ten officers. The cost of the body camera, per unit, is $500. The officers will need to be trained for the new camera system, for a cost of $5,000 total.
During your time at college, you learned about federal grants for equipment projects. You mention to your administration the possibility of obtaining a grant for such. There are numerous grants available through the government, but you find one in particular through your local council of governments, in this case North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) http://www.nctcog.org/cs/cj/ (Links to an external site.) . The program is called a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) https://www.bja.gov/ProgramDetails.aspx?Program_ID=59 (Links to an external site.) .
You will be only completing the Justice Assistance Grant Addendum. It has many similar questions to answer as in the eGrant example, but it is a lot less confusing. The eGrant example is only for you to look at, as the eGrant is submitted to the Justice Dept. Grant Division and the Addendum plus the eGrant is scored by the local Council of Governments (COG). This exercise will only score you for the JAG Addendum portion. You are competing against your other classmates to obtain funding for your project. So there is a competition for a successful grade, but the grades will not be posted for others to see.
This is an equipment only grant. You will not be hiring new persons to work for the department.
So for:
Budget info. Training $5000, Equipment $500 per unit times number of users
Identify problem and statement. Support your problem. 2 years of data collection are not necessary for this assignment.
Goal statement. What do you wish to accomplish with body cameras.
Project Descriiption. All Projects, try to sufficiently answer the question. Equipment only, again try to answer the question.
Target population. Equipment only, disregard the statement about eGrants, but describe how you will evaluate the program. Disregard the personnel project section.
Agency collaboration. You will be collaborating with the court systems (court, District Atty, County Atty.) in your county with this project.
Personnel Qualifications: You will be the project manager. You have been trained by the equipment manufacturer to setup and operate the equipment.
Just a side note. Learn who and where your sources of contact are for your local COG. They provide numerous resources to local governments. They not only provide help for law-enforcement, but any other resource needed to operate a government entity, including some non-profit agencies for various community services. http://www.txregionalcouncil.org/ (Links to an external site.) Use this link to find your local COG.
For full credit, you need to work with at least 2 articles from research journals. You may use any outside source, excluding Wikis, encyclopedia, or dictionaries. Source material must be properly cited in text. The assignment will be submitted through the Turnitin link provided. Use of first person will cost 50% of your final grade on the assignment; per APA write in third person only.

These data can be used to better understand a topic and reveal information about that topic that might require further research. Using the Module One Practice Activity Template Word Document, complete the following:
Identify federal, state, and/or local websites that contain data related to your chosen research topic.
Identify a minimum of two websites. These must be websites of an official government entity. (If you are unsure if the website is of an official government entity, reach out to your instructor.)
Next, analyze the relevance of the data set in relation to your chosen research topic in 50 to 100 words for each website.
Then, in 50 to 100 words for each website, describe how the data from that website will assist you with your ROL.
Specifically, the following rubric criteria must be addressed:
Identify at least two federal, state, and/or local websites for data related to a criminal justice research topic.
Analyze the relevance of data sets for each website in relation to a specific criminal justice problem.
