This course provides an introduction to data analysis, interpretation, and visualization. Utilizing a public health dataset, you will analyze and interpret the data and create a report. Completing the final project report is similar to completing research to be accepted in a journal. The completed final project is not due until Week 7 of the course, and you will complete parts of the final project as you progress throughout the course.
This week, you will select either the Framingham Heart Study or the Nurses Health Study for your final project. Review the information for each study in the Biostatistics Final Project Materials folder (linked in Welcome and Student Resources and Week 1 Overview and Learning Materials). The folder contains:
Final Project Guidelines
Background data for each study
The codebook for variables
List 10 variables of interest from the dataset you have selected for your final project. Indicate whether each selected variable is categorical (nominal, dichotomous, ordinal) or continuous (interval, ratio). Develop 5 research questions using the variable. Each question should use 2 variables (for a total of 10). Explain briefly why you chose these questions.

I have been assigned the Short Story from Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game”.
Think about what you believe the theme/point is behind the story. Create a thesis statement that clarifies what you believe the theme is of your assigned story. Then, create body paragraphs that serve to prove these thesis statement. End your essay with a conclusion paragraph. You must cite from your short story and create a works cited list.
The readings from Lesson Two explain how to write an academic essay about a short story. You are expected to demonstrate an understanding of this information within your essay. Please also incorporate the literary vocabulary discussed in lesson one, most specifically the elements of fiction: “The Elements of Fiction” (http://cstl-cla.semo.edu/hhecht/the%20elements%20of%20fiction.htm) and “Elements of Fiction.”
Please use New Criticism (https://public.wsu.edu/~delahoyd/crit.summaries.html)to interpret your chosen short story within your essay; that is, you should offer a close reading of your chosen short story. Please do not merely summarize the work. Instead, you must ‘prove’ some sort of interpretation (point – theme) about the work, using the literary vocabulary discussed in lessons one and two. Please do not use any other additional sources in your work. There should be citations as you use examples from the reading, and the only citation should be from your selected reading as your source. Your interpretation must be at least 500 words, but no more than 750 words.
Please remember the following:
-Avoid any and all summary sites within your essay
-Use MLA format and citations in this essay.
-Make sure your essay has a clear introduction and thesis statement (topic plus point about that topic) at the bottom of your introduction. Please introduce your chosen short story in your introduction.
-Make sure your body paragraphs are focus on proving your thesis statement – theme of the story.
-Do not summarize the story. I have read the story and know it well. I want to know your unique interpretation of this story. Use literary vocabulary and connect it to the reading.
-Make sure to have a conclusion that does not bring in new information.
-Use literary present and third person in your essay, as discussed in lesson two.

Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring/Caring Science is one theoretical framework used throughout the USU College of Nursing courses. The practice implication of Watson’s Human Caring Theory evolves our thinking and approaches to patient care from a mindset of carative (cure) to one of caritas (care). The core principles/practice are founded on a:
Practice of loving-kindness and equanimity
Authentic presence: enabling deep belief of other (patient, colleague, family, etc.)
Cultivation of one’s own spiritual practice toward wholeness of mind/body/spirit—beyond ego
“Being” the caring-healing environment
Allowing miracles (openness to the unexpected and inexplicable life events)
Some individuals are comfortable framing their practice with Watson while others prefer different theories or a collection of theories. However, Watson is based on caring which is a foundation of nursing. Anyone could use the core principles to guide decision making. Select one of the core principles and discuss ways you might be able to apply the principle in guiding your advanced practice nursing practices.
